Hardik Pandya was named in the Indian playing XI in the first test against England on 9th November 2016 during the toss, making it a dream debut for him. But later on it was announced that he was being replaced by Amit Mishra in the XI. This could be after assessing the pitch and the conditions, which could have indicated a slight hint towards being spin-friendly.

Hardik Pandya’s debut would have raise many eyebrows since he has not played enough first-class cricket considering those waiting in the wings. The other Indian cricketers who made their debut without playing much domestic cricket are Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma.

With Gambhir back as the opener, India should be leading the charge against the English bowlers hopefully. Let us wish that India wins this series spectacularly!!
