Tamil movies were banned in Karnataka from the second week of September this year over the Cauvery issue. For nearly a month and a half, no Tamil movies were released in Karnataka. Actor Sivakathikeyan’s Regina Motwani engira “Remo” released in Bangalore on 21st October with shows running in all major city multiplexes and few single screen theaters. The movie has been released in the state after nearly two weeks of its official release worldwide.
The movie is running successfully so far without any condemning from Kannada activists. This act is viewed as a sign of peace between the two states inspite of the recent alleged rail bandh that took place in Tamil Nadu over Cauvery issue. This move has made many Tamils in Bangalore watch a Tamil movies in theaters instead of downloading it and watching it on system.
Let us hope that this peace remains and makes way the Diwali releases to be premiered in Karnataka.
